Spectroscopic Redshift Catalogs

• ZCAT of the CfA Redshift Survey (John Huchra & Co.)
  
• 2MASS Redshift Survey (John Huchra's quest to build an allsky, complete redshift catalog); the 2MRS was recently used to reconstruct the mass density of the local Universe; here is a movie showing the new reconstruction.
  
• 6dF Galaxy Survey, the ambitious southern hemisphere survey from the ever-resourceful Aussies; see also Jones et al, 2004, MNRAS 355, 747, for a description of the survey.
  
• 2dF Galaxy Redshift Survey, the incredibly successful survey that beat SDSS to the punch; the successor to the 6dFGS.
  
• Sloan Digital Sky Survey, the 800-lb gorilla in the room
  
• NYU Value-Add Galaxy Catalog, this is smart version of the SDSS, from the NYU braintrust of Mike Blanton & Dave Hogg.
  
• Las Campanas Redshift Survey -- following in the grand tradition of the CfA and Cornell redshift surveys.
  
• Third Reference Catalogue of Bright Galaxies (RC3), by G. de Vaucouleurs, A. de Vaucouleurs, H.G. Corwin, R.J. Buta, G. Paturel, and P. Fouque; this is the grandaddy of them all! See Harold Corwin's page for useful links to the RC3 and related catalogs.

• Other

  And of course everything eventually ends up in the NASA Extragalactic Database (NED). NED was a very convenient tool for cross-correlating the XSC with redshift catalogs (e.g., the RC3). Another great database that was employed to construct the XSCz is the Lyon Extragalactic Database (LEDA). My colleague Helene Courtois was kind enough to provide a number of LEDA redshifts for the XSCz.
