Spitzer Observations of the WISE CVZ

SEP Photometry

Updated: June 15, 2009; The results correspond to WPRO profile-fitting on the *coadd* (not the frames), using a set of PSFs and PSFuncs built by KAM/TJ using the Frank Masci mosaics of the NEP & SEP. MIPS24 PSFs were built by TJ.

SEP Photometry: WPRO vs. Coadd Circular Aperture

Updated: Oct 26, 2008

The WPHOT system has been adapted to operate on Spitzer BCDs. The following results show the SEP WPHOT-WPRO results compared to aperture measurements made with the mosaics using Jarrett's photometry package. The aperture measurements include an curve-of-growth correction to adjust to total magnitudes.

SEP Photometry: Comparing Profile-Fitting (WPRO) vs. Aperture Photometry (WAPP)

Updated: Oct 26, 2008

The results below show the pure "BCD" measurements, comparing WPRO (psf-fitting) with the aperture corrected WAPP (small circular aperture). It is clearly evident that aperture photometry on the BCDs gives very poor results because of the contamination and confusion from nearby sources. The psf-fitting measurements and the coadd measurements (see above) do a much better job and are far more robust.

*Note: the SEP 'gap' refers to the part of the CVZ that is not covered by SAGE.
