GATOR: ===================== Bugs need to be fixed ======================= 1). Bug --- Large GATOR queries are not done --- it shows to run in the background but gives no link to the job. (Doug Hoffman email 3/2) ============================ Features desired ============================ 2). feature ---- Gator output column definition: "Hi Davy, So another suggestion. Every time I go to do a search, I have to reclick (and unclick) all of the buttons for the fields I want (and don't want). Something that would be cool would be the ability for a user to upload a simple text file that would set those buttons. That way we could use the same search selections every time without having to go through and click and unclick. -Mike" 3). static table heading: (could a required item. Lin really would like this item fixed. Impossible to work without) When you run a cone search you get this table of results with a nice heading that allows you to sort columns, etc. When you scroll the list the heading disappears off of the top. It would be a nice feature if the heading was static and only the sources scrolled. 4). web brower feature ---- Safari issue: " From: Michael Cushing Date: February 5, 2010 3:13:05 PM PST To: davy@ipac.caltech.edu Subject: gator website and safari Hi Davy, So if you remember, when I try to hit Back with safari after doing a query with Gator, I get an message asking if I want to send a form. It then goes back to the intermediate page that gives the "time elapsed" and other info and is effectively resubmitting the job. In Firefox, it skips this page and goes directly back to the page where the user selects coordinates and what fields to return in the search. So in doing some reading, it seems that although it is a safari issue, it seems like the website can be written in such a way that that isn't the case (I think). Given the number of astronomers that use macs, it might be good for someone who knows websites to maybe look into "fixing" this issue. The simple solution is to use Firefox, but Safari is a very popular browser with mac people. " Imge archive ======================== Bugs need to be fixed ======================== 1). most searches have worked well on firefox, but not on safari. Not sure how we should deal with this, but will get more help desk tickets when this is released. 2). When using table upload for searching, sometimes the image display does not work. Davy found this error when he tried several times at home and in his office. However, Lin tried this at IPAC, it seems to be working. Lin is using FIREFOX v3.5.3, and Davy tried for Firefox 3.0.3, Opera 10.1, and Safari 3.2.1., all do not work. 3). criteria for best image: At 65.3681183 -25.7472534 J2000., the best image looks pretty bad. ======================== Features required ======================= 1) The default for the Region Size is degrees while the Subimage size is arcseconds. 2). visualization option: location marker button does not work directly, you need to press submit to get it work. 3). after you have gotten a set of 4 images at one position, in the visualization option panel, if you previously did not set the grid, then now you click on the coordinate grid button, it will not show, but require you to submit again. Also it would be nice to see the same grid on all 4 bands instead of click-submit every time. 4). image display --- orientation (whether N up E left) seems not consistent for best image on and off option. This is an item for improvement. I will survey for opinions on how we should deal with this. ====================== Features desired ===================== 1). it would be nice to have another button to download 4 band images at once, also for the single band download, it should have the download for all intensity, uncertainty and mask at once. 2) Why are there no scaling controls for the 3 color image panel? 3) Perhaps there could be a button that rotates the image so that N is up and East is to the left? To match say 2MASS images? 4) My guess is that most people are going to want to change one thing at a time in the image viewer. Say, turn on the coordinate grid. Perhaps that mode should be the default, meaning when you change a button, it automatically updates. You could add another button that would turn that off and let people edit multiple things and then submit it. But maybe that isn't possible with the HTML code. 5) Allow the user to control which images are used in the 3 color image. 6) Maybe allow the user to make a 4 color image?
